A lot of Chicago Bears fans are nervously watching the social media outlets. Not necessarily for the next free agent signing. Many are wondering what is going to happen with Allen Robinson. The wide receiver, fresh off one of the best seasons in franchise history, is entering the final year of his current contract. This has raised expectations that the team must get an extension done sooner than later. They've been burned before by failing to lock up players long-term.
Robinson is far and away the best thing going for an otherwise struggling Bears offense. They can't afford to lose him. The question some have is how committed is he to staying? He's said before he'd much prefer to remain a Bear, wanting to break every franchise receiving record. Still, after seeing the way Alshon Jeffery forced his way out of town, it's hard to take guys at their word these days.
So Robinson decided to send a little message. Lauren Screeden, Bears team reporter and host of Inside The Bears posted a tweet asking people for what their favorite Bears memories are with photographs included.
Somewhat unexpectedly, Robinson was among the first to offer a reply, sending a clear message that his love of Chicago is real.
Allen Robinson seems to believe he's found a home
It's clear enough that Robinson is happy. He is the focal point of the Bears offense. His game is universally praised by media and fans alike. Things that weren't always the case down in Jacksonville despite his substantial success there at times. Chicago seems like a place he can truly carve out a legacy for himself. The Bears certainly lack for all-time great receivers in their history. It's a prime opportunity.
To say nothing of the fact that this team is built to win. They have the defense. Matt Nagy is an offensive coach who comes from a proven system. Now they might finally have a capable quarterback in Nick Foles. If GM Ryan Pace lives up to his word and moves to reward his own players, then Robinson should be in navy blue for years to come. That would make Sundays at least a little more bearable from an offensive point of view.
