The Chicago Bears 2019 draft hype machine isn't as revved up as its been the past few years. Understandable since nobody will be talking about them on the first day and most of the second. This is very much one of those drafts where the team will have to wait for the spotlight until their class (hopefully) starts to produce later in the year and beyond.
That being said, there are certain details that Bears fans may not be up to speed on. Things that could determine how this draft goes for the team from start to finish. Here are the key ones that matter to this point. Be sure to file them away for when the action begins.
Chicago Bears 2019 draft features five total picks
This is an easy one. Everybody should be up to date on this detail. Thanks to the Khalil Mack and Anthony Miller trades last year, the Bears will be without their 1st, 2nd, and 6th round picks this year. They did however get a 7th round choice courtesy of Philadelphia for Deiondre Hall.
It's a tough situation, but one Pace has been in before. With the Saints in 2012, they had no 1st or 2nd rounders and only five picks. They still came away with Akiem Hicks as their first selection. While that didn't pan out for them because they traded him, it's proof a team can still get impact players in such situations.

The Bears have met with 18 running backs
Pace insists the team will remain focused on the best player available for their draft strategy. They will not be hooked on any one position, including running back despite the recent trading of Jordan Howard to Philadelphia. Still, it's hard not to read between the lines.
Since the pre-draft process started in earnest back in February, the Bears have met with no fewer than 18 running backs in some form or another. Several of them will be available when they go on the clock for the first time. It's hard not to think that position is at the top of their priority list.
Barring a trade, they go on the clock around 7:10-7:15 CST on Friday
Last year the Oakland Raiders held the 87th overall pick. They selected LSU defensive end Arden Key around 7:17 p.m. CST last year. With the timing schedule being the same for 2019, it's likely the Bears will be picking right around that same time frame.
It will depend on some varying factors. First, how long certain teams picking ahead of them take. Sometimes they may drag the clock out trying to work a trade or they could go rather quickly. The other is whether the Bears try to trade up or down from that spot. With Pace in charge, both are possible.
Still, if they stay put then be sure to have the draft on at around 7:10 to 7:15 so as not to miss it.
