The Chicago Bears haven't received much good news regarding their offensive line since training camp began. Nate Davis missed most of it with injury issues, and Ryan Bates suffered a shoulder injury that has landed him on IR. Coleman Shelton and Teven Jenkins have also gone through their share of struggles to start the season. While nobody expected this group to be great, they at least expected it to be serviceable. They aren't anywhere close to even that. Fans can only cover their heads in pain.
Thankfully, there was finally a bit of exciting news out of Halas Hall. Kiran Amegadjie, their 3rd round pick this past April, has been working his way back from a quad injury he suffered last October. The latest Thursday injury report revealed that he practiced in full for the first time, a true indication that he is closer than ever to seeing possible action this season.
The Chicago Bears no doubt have high hopes for Amegadjie.
GM Ryan Poles said the initial plan was to bring the rookie along slowly. Not only was he inexperienced, but he also played against subpar competition in college. It would take time to get him healthy and up to speed. The Chicago Bears have likely educated him on the offense for the past several weeks. Now they get to see where he's at from a physical standpoint. Practicing in full means he was in pads and able to bang around. He won't be ready right away to handle live game conditions. Still, if he makes good progress they could start sprinkling him into games not long from now.
