The Chicago Bears have remained surprisingly quiet on their roster for most of training camp. Their only acquisition was former Rams safety Marqui Christian, a quality reserve and special teams standout. Beyond that? Nothing. They've tried out a number of players in that time but no moves to this point. Could that be about to change?
One area they continue to have question marks is the offensive line. Germain Ifedi seems to have locked down the right guard position. So the starting five appear set for 2020. The issue lay with the depth behind them. Jason Spriggs has dealt with a knee injury while Rashaad Coward and Alex Bars remain unknowns with limited experience.
It appears the Bears may be on the hunt for a bit more veteran seasoning in that mix. Albert Breer of the MMQB revealed that the team held a tryout with 27-year old former 3rd round pick Jamon Brown. Drafted in 2015, he's seen action in 60 games and started 47 for the Rams, Giants, and Falcons.

Nobody would say Brown's career features plenty of highs. That being said, the man has at least proven competent at his job when called upon. His impact was pretty notable in 2018. The Giants secured him during the regular season and immediately plugged him in at right guard. After scored just 15 and 13 points the first two weeks, New York hung 27 on Houston to get their first win with Brown helping to block J.J. Watt.
A guy like that makes for the ideal backup. It means he can be inserted into the lineup on short notice and play well enough to prevent a complete breakdown. He's got solid athleticism mixed with long arms. Not to mention a bit of a nasty streak when run blocking. Just the sort of player new offensive line coach Juan Castillo would like.
With roster cuts already happening, it will be interesting to see if the Bears hand him a deal.
