In less than a month, on March 13th, the free agency period will begin. The Chicago Bears currently hold the 8th highest amount of available cap space in the NFL. However, they have the potential to move up a few spots by making key cuts, such as veteran safety Eddie Jackson and C/Guard Cody Whitehair. According to a recent report by NFL Analyst Chad Forbes, the Bears have already started preliminary discussions with agents representing the top three free agent centers.

Lloyd Cushenberry III - Projected contract, 4 yrs — $14.28m avg/yr
Tyler Biadasz - Projected contract, 3 yrs — $7m avg/yr
Andre James - Projected contract, 3 yrs — $9m avg/yr
This is a great development because the Bears have a clear need at center. Bringing in a veteran center would be the ideal scenario, especially if the Bears decide to draft a rookie quarterback this off-season.
