Facts are facts. There is no team in the NFL that is hotter than the New Orleans Saints. Their offense hasn't scored less than 30 points in a game for over a month. Their defense has allowed 17 points or fewer in three straight games now. They've been flat blowing opponents out of the building. That includes the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles. Most believe now that the NFC is the Saints' to lose. Can anybody stop them? The Chicago Bears are the only ones left.
New Orleans has beaten every contender they've come across so far. They outraced the Rams a few weeks ago in a shootout. Minnesota failed to slow them down as well. Washington got blown out. Philadelphia looked powerless against them. The general consensus is nobody is equipped to hang with them. Nobody except the Bears.
The crew of Good Morning Football on NFL Network discussed this topic at length. Peter Schrager, a longtime insider believes that Chicago is that one team who can do it. Why? They play a style of football that can give a team like New Orleans problems.

Chicago Bears have the capability to win in different ways
It's interesting that Kay Adams brought up the issue of running the ball. There's no question that the Bears haven't done it well enough this year, but playing against the Saints isn't about running the ball. It's about ball control. Keeping that Saints offense on the sideline. People may not know this, but the Bears are ranked 6th in the NFL in time of possession at 31:00 per game. So they've proven they can sustain their drives. There's also the fact this defense is equipped to match up with an offense like New Orleans. They proved it last year. The Bears visited the Superdome and gave the Saints a game, ultimately losing 20-12. It was the lowest score they had at home all season. Drew Brees threw for 299 yards and no touchdowns, which is significant for him. This Bears defense is far better than that one that took the field last October. They have Khalil Mack at edge rusher and Roquan Smith to help defend that excellent Saints backfield. This isn't even accounting for the Bears offense either, which is upgraded across the board. They'd likely score more than 12 points this time around. It wouldn't be easy by any stretch. The Saints are that good. Still, there's no reason for the Bears to be intimidated if that matchup were to happen down the road.Comments
