Colin Cowherd isn't what somebody would call a true sports "insider." He is a prominent sports analyst known for his popular radio show The Herd on Fox Sports. So when he decides to drop inside information, one has to take it with a grain of salt. Yet that didn't stop him from delivering a pretty notable update on the situation regarding the Chicago Bears and their pursuit of quarterback Russell Wilson.
According to him, GM Ryan Pace is trying to put together a package that the Seattle Seahawks can't say no to. It's common knowledge that things aren't good between that team and their star quarterback. Enough to where both sides aren't afraid of parting ways. Wilson even named the Bears as one of his preferred destinations if traded.
Hence why the Bears feel they have a legitimate chance to get him.

So how reliable can his information be? Keep in mind it's not like the man has no connections. He's been a prominent figure in the sports world for close to two decades. He knows a lot of current and former players and coaches from multiple sports personally. If that weren't enough? He was actually born in Washington state, just 130 miles outside Seattle. That is where he grew up. Cowherd got his start in sports out there and worked as an anchor in Portland for a number of years. So he has established connections across that entire region. It isn't crazy to think he might have some solid sources on what is going on with Wilson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0-2as8ugrI&ab_channel=NFLThe warning signs with Russell Wilson continue to be there
Mike Silver of NFL Network, who also has strong Seattle connections, has said repeatedly that Wilson and Seahawks brass have a "frosty" relationship. GM John Schneider was even spotted on the pro day of North Dakota State quarterback Trey Lance. A guy many believe will be a 1st round pick. Considering Seattle has no 1st round pick this year? That is rather noteworthy. Chicago seems confident they can land Russell Wilson too. A big reason is the QB's aforementioned list. The other three teams don't look like credible threats. Dallas just extended Dak Prescott. Las Vegas seems perfectly content with Derek Carr. As for New Orleans, they are swamped with salary cap problems. That pretty much leaves the Bears sitting pretty and more than desperate enough to pay the high price it'll take.Ultimately, it comes down to Seattle following through.
This is no small decision. They would be agreeing to trade a franchise quarterback who likely ends up in the Hall of Fame while he is still in his prime. This sort of thing doesn't happen often. Joe Montana wasn't traded by San Francisco until age 37. Tom Brady didn't leave New England until 43. Peyton Manning was 36 when he left Indianapolis. Brett Favre was 39. Wilson is 32. He doesn't turn 33 until late November. There is a strong possibility he is going to continue having success for a long time to come. Can the Seahawks live with that reality? This is what they're wrestling with. The line on where Wilson ends up playing this year keeps changing. This could be your last chance to make some money before it's too late.
