Nothing is more important to a football organization than the dynamic between the triumvirate. That is the general manager, the head coach, and the quarterback. When those three are in harmony, good things tend to happen for a franchise. That has been the problem for the Chicago Bears going back many years. Rex Grossman saw the coach who drafted him get fired after one season. The same was true for Mitch Trubisky and now again with Justin Fields.
The GM that drafted them staying in charge made the previous two work. Jerry Angelo remained in place in 2004, as did Ryan Pace in 2017. That isn't the case this time. Ryan Poles replaced Pace one year after Fields arrived in 2021. That means the two guys in charge now had zero input on the quarterback's selection. In situations like this, history says the possibility is strong that a change may come soon. At least that is what Colin Cowherd made it seem like. The host of The Herd radio program told insider Mike Silver what he'd been hearing from Halas Hall.
"How about this? The current GM of the Bears did not draft Justin Fields. The current coach of the Bears had no reported fondness of Justin Fields. I have been told they aren't necessarily sold on Justin Fields."https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql7fShm97w4&ab_channel=UNDISPUTED%3ASkipandShannon
