Cordarrelle Patterson Had an NSFW Answer on His Time With Patriots

The New England Patriots have a long history of indoctrinating players in their culture. It's a big reason they've had so much success over the years. Well, that having a Hall of Fame quarterback and a Hall of Fame head coach. A lot of players who leave that culture feel like football is never quite the same and they lament about their time in it. Cordarrelle Patterson is not one of those players.

The new Chicago Bears wide receiver and kick returner had a chance to reminisce about his glorious one-year stint with the team which culminated in a Super Bowl victory over the Los Angeles Rams back in February. It was Patterson's first ring. One would think he'd come to cherish it and the time he spent with the Patriots.

Apparently not. During an interview with Justin Turpin of Redline Media, the 28-year old had few regrets about leaving New England and isn't still caught up in the whirlwind of the Super Bowl victory.

"Honestly, that Super Bowl don't mean shit to me, because I'm in a new role right now. I'm on a new team, so it's a new opportunity for me to bring my legacy and live on to another team. So, whatever happened last year in the past, that's in the past. I'm trying to just move forward."

This mindset and response may sting for Patriot fans (which isn't all that terrible) but it shouldn't be a surprise. Patterson has taken on the role of a sort of hired gun in his NFL career. New England wasn't the team that originally drafted him. They were his third team after stints with the Minnesota Vikings and Oakland Raiders. His emotions of loyalty burned out a long time ago.

He's at a point in his career where he's focused on doing his job for whoever is willing to pay for his services. That may sound a bit cold but it's not necessarily a bad thing. Patterson did good work for every team he's played for. He knows his business and is focused on what matters this year. As Matt Nagy has said for months. Last year is over. Nobody cares about it anymore. It's nice to know their new member embraces that philosophy.
