Eliot Wolf, Son Of Legendary Ron Wolf, To Interview For Bears GM

The Chicago Bears have cast their net for a new GM about as wide as they possibly can. However, there is something of a pattern that has emerged over the past two days. It is becoming clear they're targeting people of considerable front office experience. Guys that have work in a front office for a long time. A significant departure from Ryan Pace back in 2015. Eliot Wolf is the latest such example. Adam Schefter reports the Bears are home to meeting with the New England Patriots director of scouting. This shouldn't be a surprise. Many feel the executive is long overdue for such an opportunity. He's been a personnel director of some kind since all the way back in 2008. For those who might recognize the last name, he is indeed the son of Hall of Game GM Ron Wolf, the architect of the Green Bay Packers' revival in the 1990s.

Wolf has a track record that is hard to argue with.

During his time with the Packers, he had a direct hand in some big-time personnel acquisitions. Included among them were Randall Cobb, Casey Heyward, Kenny Clark, and Aaron Jones among others. When Green Bay passed on giving him the GM position when Ted Thompson stepped down, he elected to leave for the assistant GM job with the Cleveland Browns in 2018. It didn't take long to make an impact there as Denzel Ward, Nick Chubb, Kareem Hunt, and Wyatt Teller were some major scores during his two years there. Now he has since become a major contributor to the Patriots' front office since 2020. They've since added names like Kyle Dugger, Mac Jones, Christian Barmore, Rhamondre Stevenson, Hunter Henry, Matthew Judon, and Trent Brown. All of whom have contributed to their rapid turnaround to make the playoffs this year. Eliot Wolf feels like somebody worth talking to.
