The Chicago Bears have cast their net for a new GM about as wide as they possibly can. However, there is something of a pattern that has emerged over the past two days. It is becoming clear they're targeting people of considerable front office experience. Guys that have work in a front office for a long time. A significant departure from Ryan Pace back in 2015. Eliot Wolf is the latest such example.
Adam Schefter reports the Bears are home to meeting with the New England Patriots director of scouting. This shouldn't be a surprise. Many feel the executive is long overdue for such an opportunity. He's been a personnel director of some kind since all the way back in 2008. For those who might recognize the last name, he is indeed the son of Hall of Game GM Ron Wolf, the architect of the Green Bay Packers' revival in the 1990s.
