Former Bear Josh Bellamy Is Actually Kind Of A Piece Of S**t

Josh Bellamy was a bit of a fan favorite in the Chicago Bears community. While he frustrated many with his inconsistent hands at times, he managed to craft a reputation as sort of a plucky underdog. A guy that was easy to root for because he had to climb the NFL ladder the hard way. He was never the major focus on offense but he always seemed to make the occasional big play when least expected.

When Bellamy left for the New York Jets in 2019, a lot of fans were sad to see him go. It felt like the team was losing a locker room leader. Somebody who helped push everybody else with his relentless drive. Sadly as it turns out? That public persona the mad had carefully crafted over the years was merely a facade for who he really was.

A thief with little empathy for his fellow human beings. That was proven when he was arrested on charges of wire fraud from, of all things, a coronavirus relief program.

"Former New York Jets wide-out Joshua Bellamy bilked a coronavirus stimulus program for more than $1 million, federal prosecutors in Florida charged Thursday.

Bellamy allegedly obtained $1.2 million in fraudulent loans from the Payment Protection Program for his company “Drip Entertainment,” according to a criminal complaint filed in the Southern District of Florida...

...Bellamy then wired 25 percent of the cash to his co-conspirator as a kickback payment in the scam, the feds allege.

The NFL player went shopping with the illegally obtained cash, buying up luxury goods at high-end retail shops, and spending all of the dough within about two months, according to the complaint."

Josh Bellamy is the worst kind of thief

Stealing in general is never a good thing. Yet this is the worst sort. Bellamy stole money from a program that was meant to help the many families impacted by the pandemic. Families that haven't been able to find consistent work or have medical bills from the virus' impact. Bellamy, who has made over $7 million in his NFL career, shrugged off the plight of those people just so he could buy worthless expensive crap.

That is a level of greed that doesn't even register on the scale. Unbelievable. By the sound of things, Bellamy faces serious jail time for his actions and it's doubtful he'll get much sympathy from anybody because of this. Rightfully so.
