Tarik Cohen achieved one of his biggest dreams this past week. The 5'6 running back nobody gave a chance to even sniff the NFL coming out of high school is now a multimillionaire. The Chicago Bears gave their 4th round pick from 2017 a contract extension for another three years at just under $6 million per season. His first order of business after getting his money? Buy his mom a new house. It's a great story for the Bears spark plug. Hopefully, he will get his chance to prove worthy of the new deal in the weeks to come. Yet Cohen did offer an interesting nugget towards the end of his recent press conference.

Cohen has been the most vocal among Bears players calling on the team to get the contract extension with Allen Robinson done. This statement was merely the latest. Did he actually sacrifice some money in his new deal to give the team more ammunition? No. He admitted afterwards that it was a joke, but the sentiment was still obvious.

Cohen may come across as a fun-loving guy with tons of athletic ability. He's not stupid though. He understands how vital Robinson is to the Bears offense. The security blanket he represents for Mitch Trubisky. Smart teams don't let players like that get away. Yet days continue to pass without any sort of resolution. The last word is Robinson is looking for around $18 million per year. The Bears were hoping for something closer to $16 million. Since then they are rumored to have increased that offer. Both sides remain in contact and it's hoped a deal is close. What people aren't sure about is the receiver himself. Does he really want to stay? He loves Chicago but seems frustrated with the QB situation and how it continues to impact his earning potential. Time will tell if he commits to the Bears or changes his mind.
