Is Justin Fields Time Over In Chicago? It's Sure Looking Like It

As we enter the sixth week of the NFL season, the Chicago Bears find themselves in a state of disarray. Many believe that the coaching staff should have been let go following the embarrassing loss to the Denver Broncos in week 4. While Justin Fields certainly has his flaws, the coaching staff around him is far from ideal. To compound their problems, Fields was unable to maintain the positive momentum he had been building over the past two weeks, falling back into old habits. The coaching adjustments, or lack thereof, did him no favors, especially when facing Minnesota's aggressive blitz-heavy defense.

The pressing question now revolves around Justin Fields and his future in Chicago. How much time does he have left with the team? Is it a matter of weeks, months, or even years? Unfortunately, it appears that his time in Chicago may be coming to a close sooner than some would like.

Justin Fields might not have enough time?

The severity of Justin Fields thumb injury remains uncertain. The Bears have decided against surgery, likely because they want to assess his long-term potential as their starting quarterback. However, he is unlikely to start in week 7 against the Raiders, as he is already listed as doubtful. Looking at the bigger picture, it appears that Fields may not have enough time to secure his future with the team.

The Bears hold the 1st and 2nd overall picks for the 2024 NFL Draft, and this makes it unlikely that they will stick with Fields due to USC quarterback Caleb Williams likely entering the draft. To change this outcome, Fields needs to return in the next few weeks and perform exceptionally well on the field. There will be very little room for error. If Ryan Poles remains the general manager during the draft, it's likely there will be a new coaching staff, and Fields might not get a third different coach. Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against him, and this is the harsh reality of the NFL.
