Jay Cutler had a decent NFL career, but his true calling may be as a television personality. He's already earned some fame in his appearances on reality TV alongside his wife, Kristin Cavallari. His episode of attending a dinner party while drunk is the stuff of legend. So it can't be a huge surprise that the former Chicago Bears quarterback was approached about doing a beer commercial for Dos Equis.
In it, Cutler is sitting in front of a classroom trying to explain what a 5-2 defense is. For those who are curious, it's a defensive scheme that employs five defensive linemen and two linebackers up front. Cutler asks what should be a pretty easy question. How many defensive backs would there be in this alignment? Anybody who's okay at math would be able to surmise that it's four. The same as it would be for a 4-3 or 3-4 defenses.
Naturally, the students struggle to answer correctly. After just a few seconds, Cutler tips his cap to his old "don't care" moniker by declaring his boredom for the entire lesson and stating it was time for some beers.
Jay Cutler recently attended the Bears' opener against the Green Bay Packers last week. It's apparent his ties to the team remain strong despite the unfortunate way his tenure ended in 2016. One has to wonder if his career might've been different had somebody like head coach Matt Nagy arrived sooner. We'll never know. That doesn't mean we have to stop being entertained by him. He's now free to be as zany as he wants without fear of criticism.
It'll be interesting to see if Dos Equis can make this a regular thing with him. He clearly has a natural talent for it and there's no shortage of ideas one can work with.
