Should the Bears move on or double down and continue building the roster around him? This was despite the Bears finding a legitimate star receiver in D.J. Moore and retooling their offensive line. He still hasn't passed for 3,000 yards or 20 touchdowns in a season. His outstanding mobility helps curb some of that, but people are tired of waiting for him to turn the corner. Time is running out. His rookie contract is about to expire, meaning he will become way more expensive. Chicago holds the #1 pick in the draft. This feels like the right time to pull the plug.

There is no question Jaylon Johnson disagrees. He sees the work Fields puts in. He knows the time of competitor and leader he is. If the Bears can just get the offensive staff right, everything should fall into place. That is a fair argument.
