Regardless of how their careers unfold, quarterbacks Justin Fields and Caleb Williams will always be connected. In March, the Bears traded Fields to the now 3-0 Pittsburgh Steelers. During a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Fields was asked about his expectations for Williams' performance for the rest of the season. Fields responded with class, showing strong support for the rookie quarterback.
“I think he’s going to be fine.. He’s talented, he has all the talent in the world. They drafted him No. 1 overall for a reason.”
Fields further explained something he's very familiar with: the struggles in Chicago aren't solely the quarterback's responsibility.
“Of course, it’s just not him, but he’s going to get most of the blame just because of the position he’s in. But just as a whole… the guys over there I know.. they want to be better, and I think they’re going to be better.”
Justin Fields took the high road
Fields has always been a stand-up guy, so it's no surprise to see him sharing these thoughts and showing support for Williams. We're seeing firsthand how much coaching and organizational structure really matter. Now that Fields is finding success in Pittsburgh, it's likely just a matter of time before Williams and the Bears follow suit. The key question is whether the current coaching staff can fully unlock Williams' potential. At the moment, all indications suggest the answer is no.
