The Mike Glennon and Mitch Trubisky debate will be center stage for the climactic third preseason tilt against the Tennessee Titans. That's understandable given the importance of the position and its impact. However, Chicago may have gotten some added good news for that game from the other side of the ball regarding the health of a key Bears defender.
Health is the driving force behind how this season will go. The Bears front seven was hit hard by injuries in 2016. Eddie Goldman, Leonard Floyd, Pernell McPhee and Lamarr Houston all missed significant time. The most underrated loss though may have been inside linebacker Danny Trevathan. Chicago struggled mightily against the run last year, but it was its most evident after he was lost for the year to a knee injury.
Since then the veteran has tirelessly worked his way back through grueling rehab. All the while he hasn't wavered in his declaration. He plans to play week one against Atlanta. Problem is he hasn't logged a single snap in preseason. According to head coach John Fox, that may be about to change.
