This time of year, the Chicago Bears always do their best to keep things as quiet as possible. GM Ryan Pace loves secrecy. So he isn't going to give anything away ahead of the upcoming draft. The less the media knows, the less other teams are likely to know. So any rumors that emerge but be absorbed carefully. Still, they do come out and some have proven true in the past. So this will be a discussion of any notable things I've heard surrounding the Bears. Big or small. Chicago Bears rumors with one month to go

The door is not closed on Russell Wilson

At the time, it felt like Chicago was basically out of the running when news hit that the Seahawks chose not to trade their star quarterback despite a strong offer from the Bears. However, multiple insiders including Adam Schefter and Dianna Russini continue to insist the problems between Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks haven't magically gone away. There's been no formal statement from the QB or the team about a return in 2021. Belief is strong that the possibility of a trade remains open. In regards to the Bears? They think this is true as well. They haven't given up on the idea of making another run at Wilson. The challenging part is putting together a package that will convince Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll to accept it. Remember he's 70-years old. He isn't interested in a rebuild. So they have to present him with a QB solution he can stomach. There is no guarantee they can pull it off, but they are trying.

Don't expect a 1st round offensive lineman

One source brought up some interesting information on how Pace and the front office view the top of the draft. A lot of people are clamoring for the Bears to go after a top offensive tackle. Something they haven't done since 2011. However, don't expect that to happen. The word is Pace believes the depth of the tackle class is strong this year. If the Bears intended to draft a tackle early, they likely would've left a spot open. This lends credence to the growing belief Pace will target a skill position at #20. Most likely a wide receiver. Either that or a cornerback or that always possible trade up to grab a quarterback.

Bears are already receiving potential offers to move down

Everybody saw the craziness on Monday. In the space of 10 minutes, the San Francisco 49ers, Miami Dolphins, and Philadelphia Eagles executed a series of dizzying trades that completely restructured the top 10 of the draft. San Francisco moved up from #12 to #3. Miami moved down to #12 but then jumped back up to #6 with Philadelphia who moved down to #12. That sends a clear message that other teams are already discussing possible moves up and down the board. The Chicago Bears have gotten such calls as well. Not just to go up either. One team has an offer on the table for them to move down in the event the player said team wants is available. Pace has never traded down in the 1st round before. So it would have to be a considerable offer in order to get him to move. Either way, it's further evidence teams already have a pretty strong idea of how the board is going to fall.
