Mitch Trubisky Was Good, But We Know Which Bears QB Would Own a Chug-Off

The NFC North has suddenly become embroiled in one of the strangest, and yet most entertaining competitions an offseason has ever seen. It involves how fast their starting quarterbacks can chug a cup of beer. It began with Aaron Rodgers during a Milwaukee Bucks playoff game where he was put on a chug cam. He made his best attempt, but it didn't come off well. Soon Matthew Stafford was filmed giving it a try, followed by Mitch Trubisky.

Both the Lions and Bears quarterbacks performed far better in their attempts. Even Tom Brady and MVP Patrick Mahomes got in on the act at one point. It's become a bit of a phenomenon. This led to an interesting question. Though Trubisky held his own well in this unofficial competition, would he be the best beer chugger in Bears history?

The odds are likely not. That honor would probably go to team legend and Super Bowl champ Jim McMahon. The "Punky QB" was always known for liking a good time. He enjoyed himself thoroughly during the team's stay in New Orleans before the game against the Patriots. His most infamous moment though was getting out of the limo with a beer in his hand before his introductory press conference.

Jokes aside, it's nice to see that Trubisky continues to live up to McMahon's standards as a top Bears quarterback. Both on and off the field. It seemed like the two were destined to be intertwined when Trubisky used McMahon's name to mask his meeting with the Bears before the draft. Now he seems to carry himself with the same swagger and leadership that made McMahon so respected all those years ago.

There is still plenty of work to do. Trubisky has a Pro Bowl under his belt and likely will break all of McMahon's passing numbers. The big key will be whether he can close the deal on a championship. For all the critics he had, McMahon delivered the goods when the chips were down. Maybe that willingness to sit back and have some beers helped him keep calm in tough situation.

Glad to see Trubisky has that figured out.
