Thanksgiving was a rather large disappointment for the NFL this past 2018 season. A departure from some of the exciting games they'd been getting the previous few years. However, there was a lone bright spot amid the dullness. That came courtesy of the Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions matchup.
This shouldn't be a surprise. History shows those two teams tend to put on fun bouts when they tangle on the holiday in years past. Since the merger in 1970, the teams have played to a close finish four times including an overtime thriller in 1980. Their back-and-forth battle last year a surprising gem that saw plenty of drama from a late Lions comeback to a wild turn of momentum brought on by Eddie Jackson's pick-six.

The NFL clearly liked what they saw because according to John Ourand of CBS, the plan is for the two teams to meet on the Thursday festivities once again at Ford Field.
This would mark the first time since 2014-2015 the Bears have played on Thanksgiving in two-straight years. They played the Lions the former and the Packers the latter. However, this will mark the first time in franchise history they will play Detroit both times. A fascinating little twist in one of the longest rivalries in the NFL. The Lions no doubt will have revenge on their minds as that victory was probably one of the biggest backbreakers to their entire season. One the Bears relished giving to them. It's going to be a fun afternoon and probably a physical one at that.
