N'Keal Harry Found About His Trade To Chicago In A Wild Way

The Chicago Bears have considerably altered their offense's outlook over the past two weeks. It started when they traded for N'Keal Harry from the New England Patriots. The former 1st round pick had loads of potential back in 2019 but, for whatever reason, never reached it there. GM Ryan Poles believed the 24-year-old still has something to offer. A fresh start in a new offense might be what he needs. Harry expressed evident excitement at the opportunity presented to him. He's been trying to get out of New England for over a year. The wide receiver requested a trade last spring when it became clear his role in the offense was diminishing. The Patriots didn't oblige. To his credit, he accepted his new role and still became one of the best blocking receivers in the league. Finally, his wish came true on July 12 when the Bears sent a 7th round pick in 2024 to New England for him. How he found out about the trade might be the best part. Harry had just completed his first of two workouts. He decided to catch a quick nap. He was roused by his manager, who gave him the news. Harry jumped out of bed with a huge smile, thrilled about the new opportunity. Then before he got a chance to process everything, he got a phone call from his new quarterback Justin Fields. N'Keal Harry is interested in only one thing.

That is domination. His goal is to show everybody that what happened in New England was not who he is. He's a big, strong wide receiver that can block you one play and then go up and snatch it over your head the next. That was always his game in college. The Patriots never tried to use him that way. They wanted him to play more according to their system that demanded precise and complex route-running. It is hoped offensive coordinator Luke Getsy will be more accommodating to what he does best. His outside-zone offense is no stranger to successfully employing bigger receivers. N'Keal Harry will have to show he deserves the attention. Fields already has a #1 target in Darnell Mooney. That means Harry will compete with Byron Pringle and Velus Jones for targets. Earning the trust of his quarterback is always the first priority for any receiver. It'll be fun to see how that combination develops.
