One Team Interested In Chicago Bears' #1 Pick Was Revealed

Buzz is starting to pick up as the calendar shifts into February. Everybody knows the Chicago Bears are open for business at the #1 overall pick. GM Ryan Poles has the phone lines open. Several teams need a quarterback going into next season and this 2023 draft class has some quality options available. Houston and Indianapolis sit in the top four spots, ready to take one for themselves. If any team wants their preferred guy, they must secure the #1 spot to get him. The Bears are in a pretty strong position.

Jeff Hughes of Da Bears Blog dropped an update stating that two teams have already floated offers to Chicago for the pick. Neither of them was the Texans or Colts. That meant it was one of the other teams either in or near the top 10. Speculation began immediately about who they could be. Maybe Las Vegas at #7, Atlanta at #8, or Carolina at #9. It was here that Hughes struck again, offering a not-so-subtle hint about one of the teams. The revelation wasn't overly surprising, but definitely interesting.

The Chicago Bears face a conundrum with Tennessee.

Poles has every reason to hear the Titans out because their offer could be substantial. At the same time, dropping so far from the top spot runs the risk of Chicago missing out on several prominent players. Tennessee's interest in a trade makes perfect sense. They've stuck with Ryan Tannehill for the past few years and failed to reach the Super Bowl. They're now in a conference that features Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Trevor Lawrence, Josh Allen, and Lamar Jackson. If that weren't bad enough, two of their division rivals (Houston and Indy) are in good spots to land quarterbacks.

The Titans are in no-mans-land. They're trapped in a conference loaded with QBs and may see the division get significantly tougher in the near future. If they want to stay competitive, they have to get a quarterback. The veteran market doesn't look promising. Tom Brady retired. Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers are possibilities but are currently favored to land elsewhere. It is easy to see why Tennessee might view the Chicago Bears as their only means of salvation. A move up to #1 would be expensive, but it might finally deliver them from QB purgatory.
