The Chicago Bears are falling apart in every sense of the word. Already they lost their three coordinators due to COVID-19. Now it appears six more players will be joining them. Eddie Goldman, Larry Borom, and Mario Edwards Jr. were already on the list. Now Allen Robinson, Eddie Jackson, Joel Iyiegbuniwe, Jesse James, Ryan Nall, and Isaiah Coulter will be joining them. It is becoming laughable how depleted this team is getting.
If that weren't bad enough, the Bears had 13 players sit out of practice on Thursday due to various ailments. It is becoming a legitimate question whether this team will be able to field enough bodies on Monday night to play the Minnesota Vikings. Never mind the idea they might be able to actually win the game. It is fair to wonder what in the world is happening at Halas Hall because their COVID protocols have proven an epic failure.
Just one brutal loss after another.
One has to feel especially bad for Justin Fields. The offense around him has deteriorated to a laughable degree. Left tackle Jason Peters is out with a high ankle sprain. Borom, Allen Robinson, and James are on the COVID list. Last but not least? Teven Jenkins and James Daniels both missed practice with a different illness that is also sweeping Halas Hall. Don't forget he has to face the #1 pass rush in the NFL next Monday. Given the number of hits he's taken already? There is a serious case to be made that the Bears should consider starting Nick Foles instead. Either that or just run the ball all night long. They can't seriously consider asking him to throw the football 30 times behind a front that could be missing three starters. As for the defense? Well, Bears fans should get comfortable with the idea that the Vikings may put up 40 points in this game. That is how bad things have gotten. Their secondary especially is in an ugly state. If Akiem Hicks doesn't return? It will get bad.
