Walter Payton was Sweetness. Dan Hampton was Danimal. You had "Samurai" Mike Singletary, William "Refridgerator" Perry, James "Big Cat" Williams, and of course, Charles "Peanut" Tillman. The Bears have been looking for their next great nickname to emerge. Eddie Jackson came close with Bojack, but sadly, he didn't last long enough. Is Shemar Turner next to make his case?
The team was excited when they landed the Texas A&M defensive lineman in the second round. They felt he had the mixture of power, athleticism, and nastiness the defense needed more of. Turner described his style as trying to take a guy's lunch money on every snap. It has been that way since he was in the peewee leagues. It turns out that is where he got his nickname, which he revealed to Lauren Screeden during an interview for Bears YouTube.

After all, the city's most famous name is arguably Al Capone, one of the greatest crime bosses in American history. It would be so fitting if one of the Bears' best players ended up having the nickname "Boss." Expectations are high for him. While he's not expected to be a starter this year, most feel he will be an immediate contributor on defense. He should make a great rotational option to play inside and outside up front. If Dennis Allen is the creative mastermind he's rumored to be, he will find all sorts of matchups for Shemar Turner to exploit. The rest will be up to him.
