The Chicago Bears remain silent on the free agency front with each passing day. GM Ryan Poles doesn't seem to be in a rush. Then again, he did make it clear from the start. Free agency is not how he plans to build this team. That will be the draft. There is one problem. Chicago has only six picks, including no 1st rounder. So if he plans to do it this way, he'll need more. That is why speculation persists that the Bears could maneuver once the action kicks off later this month.
Moving down is never a bad idea, provided a team knows how to do it. The problem is always the same. It takes two teams to make a deal work. Just because the Bears might want to trade down doesn't mean they'll have a long line of suitors. Then again, this year could be different in that regard. Several teams are loaded with nine or more picks going into the draft. If they wish, some of them sit in an ideal position to jump up the board in the 2nd round.
