Chicago Bears fans have every right to hate Aaron Rodgers. The man has tortured their beloved team for 13 years now. He's 23-5 against them and proved his dominance once again last Sunday night. People can also question his life choices. However, there isn't much evidence to suggest he's a terrible human being. And when it comes to understanding how to play quarterback in the NFL? There is almost nobody better.
He easily could've brushed off the question he was posed on the Pat McAfee Show. His former teammate A.J. Hawk asked for his impressions of Justin Fields after seeing him twice now. Instead, Rodgers was surprisingly forthright. Not only does he see the obvious talent the rookie possesses, but he even
offered some advice on how to improve his game. Advice that may sound odd at first but makes plenty of logical sense.

This is something so many players fail to grasp.
They're so desperate to become great that they take on every challenge when trying to get better. They work on everything. The problem with that approach is a person only has so much time. So by spreading it across so many things, you're unlikely to make much progress. A better approach is to focus on one key part of your game each year, attack it relentlessly, and have it mastered by the start of the next season. Then repeat the process the next offseason.
By the fourth or fifth season, the quarterback should have a complete repertoire to make defenses miserable. That is how Aaron Rodgers approached it. It's how Tom Brady and Peyton Manning approached it. This is how Fields can do it too. He has the intelligence and the work ethic. All he has to do is figure out which specific part of his game needs the most attention and focus on that going into the next offseason.
Hopefully, the next coaching staff will operate with the same logic Rodgers does. If you want to be the best, then work like the best.
