Justin Fields might be a quarterback by trade, but it's easy to forget he's a freak athlete in general. Before football became his primary vocation, he was a big baseball player in high school. Many MLB teams were watching him as a top prospect coming out of Georgia. Instead, he focused on football, but the love of the diamond never faded. Fields has attended multiple Cubs and White Sox games already.
He got a special treat on Thursday when he and other members of the Chicago Bears were allowed to take batting practice. Khalil Herbert captured the occasion on video via his Instagram. Sure enough, Fields didn't shrink in the moment. With everybody watching, he smacked a bomb over the left field wall for a home run. People often forget that it isn't easy to do and takes considerable strength. The quarterback made it look effortless.
