Velus Jones wasn't available for the Chicago Bears preseason opener against Kansas City. He was dealing with an undisclosed injury. So people had high hopes for his debut in Seattle against the Seahawks. Things didn't get off to a great start. He had a nice 30-yard kick return to open the game but fumbled at the end of it. Hopefully, it was jitters and he'd be able to settle in as things progressed. Those hopes were fulfilled.
After a nice 52-yard drive by the offense, the Bears defense forced a Seahawks punt on the subsequent series. Jones got another opportunity to make a play. He didn't disappoint. The 3rd round pick fielded the kick and ran it back 48 yards. His trademark speed was on full display. For all the talk about his age at 25, the receiver was able to remind people there is a reason he is in the NFL. He has significant talent.
