Allen Robinson had an eventful past few months. Most of it centered around the contentious contract negotiations with the
Chicago Bears. After trying to work out an extension, it became clear the two sides were just too far apart on numbers. So the team elected to use the franchise tag, locking their star receiver down for $17.98 million this season. It would be easy for Robinson to be bitter about that. To feel somewhat checked out from the team.
That couldn't be further from the truth. If anything, the receiver has embraced his role in the locker room more than ever. He worked a ton with Darnell Mooney in the offseason to help him improve his route running. It seems like he's embraced his role as a mentor. That was on display during the preseason opener against Miami. On the biggest pass
play of the day, Justin Fields found Rodney Adams for 25 yards. Adam made a great play to go up and get the ball along the sideline.
Robinson was spotted nearby and he was loving every bit of it.

This serves as a reminder. The receiver remains committed to the team. As much as he wants to get the payday he thinks he
deserves, he isn't going to let that infect his personality in the locker room. This is why so many teammates continue to speak out in an effort to get him his money. They don't want him to leave. He has already stated he loves Chicago and wants to stay. As always, it is a business issue.
Some players let business interfere with their conduct off the field. Not Allen Robinson. He was and remains a complete professional. If anything, he is taking the much smarter approach. Not only will he continue to produce in games, but he will show the team he can be invaluable to them as a leader as well. Those are the types of players the Bears never want to lose. Here is hoping something can get worked out.
