What If Mitchell Trubisky Is Good Somewhere Else?

Chicago Bears quarterback Mitchell Trubisky may be one of the most demised sports figures in all of Chicago sports at the moment. Many blame Trubisky as the sole reason for the team's offensive struggles and current four-game losing streak. Although the season is only halfway over, many can't wait for the team to move on from the embattled quarterback, but what happens if that comes back to haunt the team.

Over the past few weeks, many in the media have speculated which quarterbacks the Bears can trade, sign, or draft to compete or replace Trubisky in 2020. Cam Newton, Andy Dalton, Marcus Mariota, Teddy Bridgewater, and Nick Foles are all quarterbacks that some believe the team should target following the 2019 season. With all those quarterbacks being floated as options for Chicago, that means that there may be a team that could look at Trubisky to solve their quarterback dilemma.

The Bengals, Titans, Panthers, Jaguars, Saints, Chargers, Colts, Dolphins, Broncos, and Patriots could all be looking to fill either their starting quarterback position or solidify their backup quarterback position. Although Trubisky has struggled this season, he still is one of the youngest quarterbacks in the league and was named to the Pro-Bowl last season. For a team that won't be able to solve their quarterback issue via the draft, they could target the embattled Chicago quarterback thinking that they could unlock his true potential.

Imagine if either Sean Payton or Bill Belichick view Trubisky as the heir apparent to Tom Brady or Drew Brees once they retire. Either coach could acquire the Bears' quarterback and have him sit to learn the playbook for a year before making him the starter. With the Saints, Trubisky would be mentored by one of the best offensive minds in football with Payton. He would also have two of the most explosive pass-catchers in the league with running back Alvin Kamara and wide receiver Michael Thomas.

Trubisky will get another starting job in the league if he isn't able to last with the Bears. The former second overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft was viewed by many teams as the best quarterback in the draft above Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes. Although the Bears thought the highest of him, that doesn't mean there isn't a general manager or coach somewhere in the league isn't thinking that they could be the one to fix Trubisky.

If Trubisky does find success somewhere else it would be a blow to Bears fans that have suffered so much already. It would only be magnified if the quarterback Chicago brings in to replace his fares no better or performs even worse. The irony of Trubisky being successful elsewhere would also heighten the negative history that is the Chicago bears quarterback position.

The Chicago Bears starting quarterback still has eight games left to prove himself to the team and the city. All the quarterback signing and trade rumors could be shelved if Trubisky has a stellar second half of the season. If he doesn't, Ryan Pace and his staff will possibly look at moving on from him to fans' delight, but that delight could turn to regret if the mocked quarterback finds a second chance elsewhere.
