Why Mitch Trubisky Should (And Probably Will) Feast In Atlanta

If there's one thing Chicago Bears fans have learned the past three seasons? It is to never assume anything when it comes to Mitch Trubisky. Just when you think the quarterback is turning the corner, he delivers an entire month of duds. Then when it seems he is on the cusp of losing his job, he'll string together some truly good performances. His mercurial nature has made Bears fans paranoid. Like if they dare to believe he will have a good game, the football gods will punish them. Then again, one must be honest. That mindset began many years before Trubisky even arrived. Jay Cutler gave them plenty of that for almost a decade. Even folk hero Jim McMahon was guilty of it too. Trubisky has never earned much trust thanks to this inconsistency. All that being said, the 26-year old does have a pretty steady track record when it comes to one thing. Since 2018, the Bears quarterback has faced a 20th or worse pass defense eight times. Mitch Trubisky couldn't ask for a better setup in Atlanta

The Bears are hoping to build on their early momentum this season starting 2-0. They can do that with a win on the road against the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan will be the big story in this game going against that Chicago defense. However, it's Trubisky who has a chance to emerge as the real star of the game. Why?

The Falcons defense is in tatters. Even before this weekend arrived, the unit ranked 32nd in the NFL against the pass. Now things have only gotten worse. Both of their starting defensive ends are questionable for the game with injuries. If that weren't enough, three of their defensive backs were also declared out including safety Ricardo Allen and 1st round pick A.J. Terrell. To say they are undermanned would be, well, an understatement. This is where Trubisky comes in. His receivers are healthy. He's gotten good protection from the offensive line. There are no excuses for him not to have a big day. Based on the track record, it's safe to believe that is exactly what will happen.
