The Chicago Blackhawks have hired Marc Crawford as an assistant coach to complete Jeremy Colliton's staff for the 2019-20 season. Crawford was the head coach of the 1995-96 Colorado Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup. He most recently served as the interim head coach for the Ottawa Senators after the firing of Guy Boucher. Crawford had a 7-10-1 record in the final 18 games of the 2018-19 campaign.
Marc Crawford provides significant NHL coaching experience that Jeremy Colliton and his young staff lack. He has 18 seasons of NHL coaching experience, and he spent 16 of those as a head coach/interim coach. The 58-year-old Crawford has coached for Quebec/Colorado, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Ottawa. He has 556 wins as a head coach, which ranks 21st in NHL history. Marc Crawford brings a boatload of knowledge to the table for the Blackhawks.
Crawford will join current assistant coaches Sheldon Brookbank and Tomas Mitell, goaltending coach Jimmy Waite, video coach Matt Meacham, and assistant video coach Dylan Crawford, who's Marc's son.
