Bulls Have A New Starter As Otto Porter Jr. Is Out With An Injury

While the Bulls cruised to a 20-point win over the Hawks earlier this week, Otto Porter Jr. left the game early because of a foot injury. The Bulls were hoping it was minor and that with a few days off he'd be able to return against Houston Saturday night. Unfortunately for Porter and the Bulls that's not the case.

The 26-year-old forward has a foot sprain and the Bulls don't have a clear timetable for his return.

So, Chandler Hutchison will get his first start of the season. Hutchison, who was drafted 22nd overall by the Bulls in 2018, started 14 games in his rookie year. The second-year forward out of Boise State missed all of training camp with a hamstring injury and had a brief stint in the G-League when the regular season started.

Hutchison made his 2019-20 debut against the Lakers, playing in 15 minutes in a loss. He came in for the injured Porter against Atlanta in the second half and scored nine points, with four rebounds and an assist, going 5-for-7 at the free throw line.

Saturday's game against the Rockets begins a stretch of six out of seven games at home for the Bulls.

Porter has started in all nine games for the Bulls so far this season, averaging 11.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and a steal per game, shooting 40% from 3-point range and 41.7% overall.
