Chicago Bulls Find the Veteran PG They Needed via Trade

The Chicago Bulls see Coby White as the future at point guard. However, the #7 overall pick is raw. He needs time to develop his game for the NBA level. This is why the team has remained persistent in their efforts to find a veteran who can fill the job until he's ready. Somebody to take over for the unreliable Kris Dunn. It took some time, but Gar Forman and John Paxson finally found their guy in Tomas Satoransky.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that the Bulls had completed a sign-and-trade deal with the Washington Wizards for the restricted free agent. He started 54 games for them last year, averaging 27 minutes play per game. In that time he delivered a respectable 8.9 points, 5.0 assists, and 2.5 rebounds a night. He also boasts a solid .400 career shooting percentage from 3-point land.

Tomas Satoransky is cost-effective move for Chicago Bulls

This move marks the second one of note for the Bulls after signing Thaddeus Young not too long ago. Satoransky is a three-year NBA veteran who also played extensively in Europe. A native of the Czech Republic, he is 27-years old. The best part is he doesn't have to be kept exclusively at point guard. He has a 6'7 frame that enables him to shift to shooting guard if necessary, giving his team more flexibility in their lineup.

One other thing is Satoransky seems to like playing in the United Center. Some of his best performances as a professional have come in that building. He hung 25 points on them in February of 2018 then had 16 points and 7 assists there back in March of this year. This may be a notable reason why the Bulls brass targeted him. He made it hard to be ignored.

The best part is the Bulls have a guy who can start for the time being but will make for an ideal backup point guard off the bench once White is ready. He knows how to run the floor and distribute the ball but also can score when the situation demands it. Satoransky won't have to be the guy. Zach Lavine and Lauri Markannen will take care of that. All he has to do is complement them.
