Chicago Bulls Predicted to Target This Upcoming Free Agent

The Chicago Bulls free agency plan won't be the talk of the NBA. However, that doesn't mean they won't be active. The team feels like they're in a good position now. They added a potential point guard of the future in Coby White during the draft. Together with the rest of their young core of Zach Lavine, Lauri Markannen, and Wendell Carter Jr., they have pieces in place to forge a possible contender in the East.

That said, there is still plenty of work to do. One of the key issues that can't be left unaddressed is the bench. While they now have depth in the frontcourt at center and power forward, there are lingering concerns at small forward and the guard spots. Robin Lopez may be gone along with Ryan Arcidiacono, Brandon Sampson, and a few others.

While the Bulls won't be able to target any of the big fish on the open market, they're in good enough salary cap position to nab one or two quality additions for their bench. Bobby Marks of ESPN pinpointed one name who makes perfect sense for this.

"Expect the Bulls to focus on two priorities: finding a starting point guard (even with the addition of White in the draft) and adding depth off the bench at shooting guard and small forward.

One name to keep an eye on is Bucks restricted free agent Malcolm Brogdon.

For the Bulls to pry the Milwaukee guard away, the offer sheet probably would need to be in the four-year, $80 million range."

Chicago Bulls should have deep familiarity with Malcolm Brogdon

Being from a division rival, the Bulls know everything there should be to know about Brogdon. The 2016-2017 Rookie of the Year has steadily improved during his time in Milwaukee with 2018-2019 being his best yet. He averaged 15.6 points, 3.2 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game. He also posted an impressive 92.8% from the line and a career-best 42.6% from three-point land.

Brogdon also boasts versatility, playing both point and shooting guard. This would allow him to shift between either depending on the Bulls' needs during a game. That is excellent value despite a higher price tag. It remains to be seen what the Bucks will do. They may try to keep as much of the roster that went to the Eastern Conference Finals together as possible despite going over the luxury tax.

Brogdon has proven he can have stretches of hot performance in the postseason. They may not want to lose it.
