New Otto Porter Jr. Injury Update: Still Bad

Otto Porter Jr. was first injured in the first half of Nov. 6's game against the Hawks. After the 113-93 win by the Bulls, Porter's injury didn't seem all that serious.

A few days later Porter was ruled out for a few games with a sprained foot and a week later the Bulls still had no timetable on Porter's return.

Then, two weeks ago the team released a statement announcing that Porter would be out a while longer, as a second MRI revealed a bone bruise.

Hey, at least that MRI actually found the issue with Porter.

It's now been two week since that update and before Monday night's 113-106 win over the Kinds, we received another update on Porter and it's still bad.

"I have no idea about coming back sooner or later.," Porter said. "The new MRI I’m supposed to be taking is just supposed to see how far along I’ve come. It will eliminate any other things that might’ve happened as far as like tissue and stuff like that. Looking forward to it."

Porter has only played in nine games this season. He's been lifting weights, doing elliptical work and taking set shots since being sidelined last month.

The Bulls traded for Porter in February, dealing Jabari Parker, Bobby Portis and a second round pick for the small forward. Porter, now in his seventh NBA season, dealt with nagging injuries throughout his time with the Wizards. The Bulls are seeing that firsthand, while Porter tries to still be a leader from the bench.

Porter, 26, is set to earn $27 million this season and about $28.5 million in 2020-21 before he becomes a free agent.
