If the Bulls decide to build around DeMar DeRozan by offering him a four-year $144 million extension this summer and possibly bring back Nikola Vucevic, trading LaVine for a haul of serviceable players could be their best option for staying competitive.

Spencer Dinwiddie has come a long way since his playing days in Chicago early in his career. While Dinwiddie is an excellent defender, his offense often goes underrated. At 29, Dinwiddie is averaging 17 points per game, with 40% shooting from behind the arc. Between his efficient scoring and solid defense, there isn't that big of a drop-off between Dinwiddie and LaVine. The Bulls could fill the rest of their roster with shooters like Joe Harris, Royce O'Neale, and Seth Curry, which would help spread the floor for DeMar DeRozan's midrange game.

The Nets would bring in LaVine to pair next to Kevin Durant. It's never easy losing an All-Star starter like Kyrie Irving at a bargain price, but bringing in LaVine could help avoid Durant requesting a trade like his former teammates James Harden and Kyrie Irving did during their tenure in Brooklyn.
