The Nets can wait and see if Lonzo Ball ever gets healthy again. Unfortunately, the Bulls do not have that same time with an aging roster. This deal would give the Nets another draft pick which they can add to their collection now that they're officially rebuilding. The Bulls would acquire a similar tier player as Lonzo Ball when healthy. Dinwiddie brings a different skill set to the table. He's unlikely to solve the heavy iso problems the Bulls face with DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine, but he can shoot above 40% from behind the arc and play elite defense.

While the media tends to trash Ben Simmons without actually watching him play, his elite defense and playmaking ability haven't gone anywhere since returning from his back injury. Will it hurt paying above $30 million to a player who can not shoot? Of course. Can he help the Bulls run the offense? Better than anyone else they have healthier right now. If the Bulls swung for the fences on draft night when picking Patrick Williams over Tyrese Haliburton, I don't see why they can't do the same here.
