I've done these for the past two seasons and almost went 5-for-5 in 2017, but despite the Cubs winning more games in 2018, the year-long prop bets went straight down the toilet like the Cubs offense last season. Anyway, a new year, new prop bets, let's make some money.
By the way, these are all from Bovada. Check out all their player prop bets for all MLB teams
here.
Most of the prop bets I'm going to pick are going to come from position players and now that Chili Davis is gone, I trust the offense will go back to normal. Also, Kris Bryant is on his kill everybody, fuck the haters, 2019 revenge tour, soooooo...
Kris Bryant home runs o/u 28.5 - OVER
The shoulder is 100% healthy and Kris Bryant is out for blood oh and probably is looking at all the new contract extensions and wants him some of that money too.
He'll hit at least 30 dingers and batting at the top of the order, bet the over on 95.5 runs scored too.
You know what, fuck it, bet on Kris to win MVP too. He's at +900.
Anthony Rizzo RBIs 95.5 o/u - OVER
You want to talk about Mr. Consistency? Well, that's Anthony Rizzo, who has had at least 101 RBIs in the last four seasons. Even in a down year for him in 2018, Rizzo still drove in 101 runs. It also looks like he's trimmed down a bit during the offseason, so hopefully he won't suffer anymore nagging back issues that seem to pop up once a year. 95.5 RBIs? Smash that over.
Willson Contreras 15.5 home runs o/u - OVER
Willson Contreras was on his way to having another great year at the plate, but then the second half happened and all his hitting ability was seemingly stripped by the aliens from Space Jam. He only had three home runs and eight doubles after the All-Star Game. Chili Davis is gone and Contreras did admit that he didn't put in the maximum effort throughout the season to maintain his success. So, you should expect a big bounce back year from Willy. At least 20 homers from Willson in 2019.
Yu Darvish 10.5 wins o/u - OVER
Some Cubs fans can't wait to jump all over Yu Darvish over any little thing just because he happened to be injured in 2018 and is making more money than they ever will. It's unfortunate and something that happens way too often with pro athletes and fans, but I can't wait for Yu to absolutely shove his foot down those jackass fans' throats. Yu Darvish 10.5 wins? He might get that by the All-Star break.
Cole Hamels 12.5 wins o/u - UNDER
I'm not gonna be a complete homer here and if I had to pick one guy who I can see not having that great of a year is Cole Hamels. And by the way, we all know that win/loss records don't mean shit for a starting pitcher, but it's just a gut feeling that Hamels gets a lot of high pitch counts, has to leave in close games and/or he's the guy who gets screwed the most by the Cubs bullpen.
I mean, Hamels could still be good and not win more than 12 games.
So, those are five bets I feel pretty good about.
Kris Bryant over 28.5 home runs (-120)
Anthony Rizzo over 95.5 RBIs (-120)
Willson Contreras over 15.5 home runs (-115)
Yu Darvish over 10.5 wins (-115)
Cole Hamels under 12.5 wins (-120)
