STOP HITTING BRENNEN DAVIS!
The Cubs #1 prospect and consensus top-15 prospect in MLB was taken out of Monday's spring training game against the Reds after he was drilled on the right knee. Davis was the second consecutive batter to get hit by Reds' pitcher Graham Ashcraft.
Davis initially stayed in the game after he was checked out by a team trainer, but after a fielder's choice that moved Davis to second base the Cubs opted to remove the outfielder from the game.
Davis has had an unbelievable run of bad luck with HBPs, missing time in the minors after getting hit on the wrist on multiple occasions. Hopefully the removal of Davis on Monday is only precautionary, but at the very least he's going to be walking around with a very sore knee for the next several days.
UPDATE For now the Cubs say Davis is day-to-day with a bruised right knee.
Fingers crossed that he's all right and there's damage after a few days of rest. UPDATE Brennen Davis got x-rays on his right knee and nothing came up, so that's a good sign. Cubs manager David Ross also said that the young outfielder isn't as sore as he expected. Another positive after the direct shot Davis took on Monday.
