Cubs And White Sox Dominate Monthly Awards For August

Both Chicago baseball teams had a good month in August, as the White Sox established themselves as a dangerous team in the AL, while the Cubs continued to pace the NL Central following their hot start.

The offense really kicked into gear the last three weeks for the White Sox and while the resurgence correlates to Tim Anderson's return, there's no doubt José Abreu has been team's biggest run producer.

And who can forget his incredible weekend at Wrigley Field against the Cubs. Abreu was named the American League Player of the Month after posting a 1.061 OPS in August.

Meanwhile, Luis Robert's recent surge earned him Rookie of the Month honors in the AL, as he clubbed nine home runs and had a 1.015 OPS in August.

The race for ROY between Robert and Kyle Lewis of the Mariners is going to be fun down the stretch.

For the Cubs, Darvish won NL Pitcher of the Month, going undefeated in August and posting a 1.09 ERA in 33 innings.

Darvish is currently tied with Max Fried of the Braves and Jacob deGrom of the Mets for the highest fWAR in the National League for pitchers at 1.8. Darvish's 1.47 ERA is also No. 1 in the NL and only second behind Shane Bieber in all MLB.
