Hyde has been with the Cubs since 2013 and was the first base coach for the last three years. He previously served as the Cubs bench coach before Maddon was hired prior to the 2015 season. Meanwhile, Jim Hickey was also finally confirmed as the new pitching coach, coming over from the Tampa Bay Rays. Hickey replaces Chris Bosio, who is now with the Detroit Tigers.
