Late last week the Cubs informed reporters that besides Mark Loretta, David Ross and Will Venable, Joe Girardi would also be interviewing for the open manager position. Loretta interviewed last Thursday and according to 670 The Score's Bruce Levine, Girardi's interview with the Cubs will be on Wednesday.
Girardi, who spent 10 seasons managing the Yankees and one as Marlins manager back in 2006, has by far the most coaching experience out of the known candidates for the Cubs job. As a matter of fact, he's the only one who has previously managed out of the people that we know so far the Cubs are considering.
However, experience isn't everything and right now David Ross remains the favorite to be the next Cubs skipper.

Ross is believed to have that demeanor as well. It's something that Cubs executives Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer are craving, with a prevailing thought in the organization being that Maddon created a good working atmosphere but one that needed more accountability for players to grow together.
There's a good reason that Ross is considered the front-runner. He knows the "Cubs way" of operating and has the strong relationship with the front office.
Girardi, who will be in New York next week to cover the ALCS, is also interested in the Mets job. He's expected to be interviewed by them as well.
Oh and again, don't forget, Will Venable is also getting an interview by the Cubs this week.
