All right, so the list now includes six potential candidates to become new Cubs manager. Mark Loretta was the first to interview and he was followed by Will Venable on Monday. Gordon Wittenmyer of the Chicago Sun-Times was on the scene Wednesday, when Joe Girardi flew in and had an eight-hour interview with the Cubs.
Wittenmyer also reported that the Cubs are interested in Yankees special assistant Carlos Beltrán to be on their list of candidates to interview for the open manager position.
The Athletic's Patrick Mooney was the first to report that the Cubs want to interview Joe Espada.
Back to Beltrán. Although the Cubs reportedly have interest in him it's not known if they've asked permission to interview Beltrán yet.

A source said Wednesday that the Cubs have Yankees special assistant Carlos Beltran, the nine-time All-Star outfielder, on their list of potential candidates to interview, although an interview has not been scheduled, and it is unclear whether they have sought permission yet from the Yankees to interview Beltran.
Beltrán, who played from 1998-2017, quickly found himself as a managerial candidate and interviewed for the Yankees' job after Girardi's contract wasn't renewed in 2017. Aaron Boone was eventually hired, but a year later the Yankees brought Beltrán into their front office as a special adviser to GM Brian Cashman.
Beltrán and Girardi will also interview for the Mets manager position.
David Ross' interview is scheduled for Thursday with the Cubs.
