Yu Darvish was brilliant against the Brewers Thursday night at Wrigley Field, as the Cubs' right-hander had a no-hitter through 6.1 innings before Justin Smoak cranked a solo home run to right field. But that was it, as Darvish struck out 11 batters in seven innings to lead the Cubs to a 4-2 win.
Darvish has been amazing since the second half of the 2019 season and it was even more satisfying to watch him fool the Brewers.
A quick backstory to this past offseason.
When all the sign-stealing shit started to come out Darvish spoke candidly about weird stuff he was noticing hitters were doing in 2019, and that led to these tweets from Bleacher Nation about Christian Yelich.
Darvish then responded to this tweet below, claiming Yelich's eyes moved because the Cubs pitcher had stepped off. However, at no point did Darvish ever accuse Yelich or the Brewers of actually stealing signs.
As you may remember, Yelich took this opportunity to take a shot at Darvish in a since-deleted tweet.

Absolutely hilarious when you consider Darvish has shut down the Brewers since signing with the Cubs and obviously that continued Thursday night.
So, after the 4-2 win, of course the Cubs weren't going to let Yelich off the hook.
By the way, Yelich is down to a .167 batting average this season.
Hmmmm...
Interesting.
