Man, it's only been a week and although the first day or two were slow moves wise things really picked up over the weekend following the nearly 100-day MLB lockout. The Cubs and White Sox have already added to their major league rosters and that's where we focused most of our attention during this week's episode. To start off we go over whether or not the White Sox made a mistake by not offering Carlos Rodon a qualifying offer. The lefty signed a two-year, $44 million deal with the Giants that includes an opt-out after 2022. Meanwhile, the Cubs have been right in the middle of the Carlos Correa rumors and although things got hot and heavy last Friday it now seems like the shortstop will head back to Houston. Still, it appears that as of now it's between the Cubs and Astros for Correa. In the midst of the rumors the Cubs did sign an elite defender at shortstop, inking a one-year deal worth $4 million with Andrelton Simmons. Certainly some thoughts about some of his wild beliefs, but we do go back on what it means for the rest of the Cubs' middle infield. The White Sox keep signing very likable players. Josh Harrison and Joe Kelly are already being embraced by Sox fans and they also provide much-needed depth at their respective spots. More so, Harrison as the Sox bullpen is already stacked, but it never hurts to keep adding quality relievers. We also touch on Craig Kimbrel's status with the team and if he can finally get over his struggles now that he's no longer a closer. The White Sox also signed Vince Velasquez, who at this point will battle it out with Dallas Keuchel for some starts at the back end of the rotation. That is unless the White Sox can pull off a trade with the A's, although that gets very complicated when looking at Chicago's weak farm system. It's been a while, but the Cubs have finally signed a big-time free agent position player and this is certainly an exciting move. Japanese star Seiya Suzuki agreed to a five-year, $85 million deal with the Cubs. That contract marks the biggest deal signed by a Japanese position player in MLB history. Still lots of work left to do for the Cubs to get competitive, but it is good see them land a big free agent. There aren't many holes in the White Sox roster, but fans are still hoping Rick Hahn can make one more big move. Michael Conforto is still available and we talk about how weird it is that there has not been much about him in the media since the lockout ended. Kris Bryant got a big contract from the Rockies. We look back at his time with the Cubs and clear up any confusion about the rumored offer he was given by the Cubs. Spoiler, David Kaplan was wrong about that. Full show below!
