Cubs super utility player Javier Baez made a quick stop to a local hospital in his home country of Puerto Rico yesterday morning. Baez has spent much of his off season in his native country and like the rest of the Cubs, is preparing to make the trip to Mesa, Arizona for Spring Training in less than a month.
Before Baez boards the plane to embark on the 2017 season, he visited a handful of patients in the oncology and intensive care unit at the San Jorge Hospital.
Just a warning:
Get a box of tissue ready.

Baez went room to room taking pictures with the young patients and their family members during his stop
through the hospital. Baez is unfortunately familiar with having a family member in the hospital as he suffered through the loss of his sister, Noely, who died of complications from spina bifida just before the 2015 season.
"I've been through a lot of conditions with my sister and see the smile of a child like that, who has so many conditions, and you smile for nothing, only for a visit that costs you nothing ... I feel very proud."
Baez stopped in the room of a young girl who was heart broken because she missed Game 7 of the World Series.
The caption of the video reads:
"Samantha fell asleep and missed the last game in which her favorite player, Javy Baez, won the championship with the Chicago Cubs. What I didn't know was that he would visit her to her room. Her face of excitement was worth a million!"
I could literally watch videos like this all day.
Tip of the cap to Javy.
