The Cubs are less than two weeks away from launching their new Marquee Sports Network and although fans shouldn't panic yet about not being able to watch games in 2020 there still isn't a deal between Marquee and Comcast. As you know, Comcast is the main cable provider in Chicago.
In January the Cubs announced that they had deals with 22 providers and Crane Kenney assured fans that the network would be available on all streaming services by Opening Day. Still waiting on Comcast and those streaming deals to be announced.
However, Marquee has certainly been busy hiring in-studio talent and analysts as its launch date approaches. We know that Len Kasper and Jim Deshaies will be the main team calling games on Marquee, but there are going to be a bunch of more people you'll see throughout the season including:
Ryan Dempster
Mark DeRosa
Lou Piniella
Dan Plesac
Doug Glanville
Jason Hammel
Carlos Peña
Rick Sutcliffe
Chris Myers
Plus, Cole Wright as the studio host and Taylor McGregor as a field reporter.
But wait, there's more!
On Tuesday, Marquee announced that Mark Grace will also be an analyst on the Cubs TV network.
Elise Menaker also joined the roster of talent and will be a field reporter.
Hmmm, no Kelly Crull?
Anyway, like every other analyst hired by Marquee, Grace will also maintain his other gig while appearing in some Cubs games during the season.
It's good to see the Cubs bringing back Grace and he's been welcomed back before after a rocky end to his career in Chicago. Interesting that the Cubs have no problem embracing a felon, but are still shunning Sammy Sosa who carried the franchise in the 90s.
Wonder if Len will hit Grace with any of these jokes.
