Neither Tucker or his parents thought anything of the fourth grader missing school because lets face it -- if your parents call you into school sick to catch a Cubs game they are pretty much the coolest parents in the world. What Tucker didn't expect, however, was to run into the principal of his school in East Moline inside of Wrigley Field. Principal Pat Versluis was on the same page as Tucker and decided to play hooky from work and attend the game with his son Aiden, who's a year older than Tucker. Versluis saw the sign on Twitter and realized that he and Tucker were on a collision course of a very awkward meeting.
“I saw him and I was kind of ducking down,” Versluis said with a laugh during a cell phone call from inside Wrigley Field.Eventually the student and Principal got together for a picture to commemorate the hilarious occasion. What's better is Versluis' response when he was asked his thoughts on catching one of his students' skipping a day of school.
“It’s all good. Doesn’t bother me. He’s a great kid. He was student leader of the year. I thought the sign was hilarious.”Principal Versluis -- from every person who's ever acted like an asshole in school we thank you for not being a jerk of a principal and understanding that a Cubs game may take precedence over a boring day in school every now and then. You're the real MVP, Pat.
