Hand up, I wasn't paying much attention to Christian Yelich during his first full season with the Miami Marlins, so maybe he was pretty good out in the outfield in 2014, when he won a gold glove. But you know what, 2014 was a long time ago because this dude stinks out in left field now.
But at least Yelich got to see what a current gold glove winning outfielder looks like, watching Ian Happ getting it done, putting his body on the line even during a spring training game on Sunday.
Meanwhile, here's what a bum in left field looks like trying to catch a ball.
And you know what, maybe Yelich can take some notes at the plate too.
Also interesting to see that during Jason Heyward's 28-30 age seasons he put up a 104 wRC+, while Christian Yelich has only been slightly better at 108 wRC+. Would be a shame if Yelich's performance continued to trend downward with the Milwaukee Brewers, who signed him to a nine-year, $215 million contract extension back in 2020.
